Souls, as they are represented in Onimusha, do not represent the typical definition. They may, for instance, be harvested from defeated foes, wounded opponents, and from relics. Certain items can control the type of soul that is released, whether it is a blue, red, yellow or purple soul. The colour indicates which form of energy the soul possesses; yellow souls replenish life force, blue souls replenish magical ability, and purple souls can fuel an Oni Awakening, and red souls are used to improve weapons and armor.

  • Souls (ソウル Sōru) are different types of memory-card-like devices used to contain a persona or a function. They are the central items in the Go-Ongers arsenal. According to Go-on Seminar 41 (GP 43), they have used 28 of them in the series.
  • A soul is non-corporeal being brought about by a physical "body." Inanimate objects have souls, though no consciousnesses. Animals (so-called "sentients"), and people ("sapients") have "full souls," brought about by redhumor (blood), bluehumor (phlegm), witehumor (bile), blachumor (venom), a brain, a heart, and an Oporosi Mark (which they use to alchemically transmute food into energy for their bodies). The main difference between the two is the size of the brain relative to the rest of the body. Artificial beings like golems, and homunculi only have limited souls, but can be fully conscious if they have brains. This allows them to take on the repetitive ultra-powerful nature of lyches.
  • Souls are the spirits that are inside of all humans that keep them alive. When a human dies the spirit remains inside the body for a few hours before it drifts off to Heaven or Hell. Sometimes a spirit becomes lost on it's way to the after life and is trapped on earth as a ghost. The ancient Egyptian's believed heavily in the after-life and some sorcerers used a magical power to give life to inanimate figurines using the souls of their deceased friends. They achieved this by creating a magic potion and putting the potion into a corpse with a special ring and mixing it with the potion with the person's blood and then injecting it into the figurine, bringing it to life with the essence of the person. The soul itself is not transferred giving the person a new body, but makes them reborn as th
  • Murgoth has been busy with his otherwordly research! He has finished refining his Soul Enchanters. These mysterious items have the chance to allow any weapon level 75 and up the ability to harness the terrifying power of bosses from all over Maple World. Seeing what Murgoth was up to, the bosses in Maple World tried to protect their souls by storing them in Soul Shards. By defeating a boss, you have a chance of obtaining one or more Soul Shards that they cannot carry with them as they run away, tail between their legs, to recover from their brutal beating. Once you collect 10 soul shards from the same boss, you can combine them into a Boss Soul that can be used with your soul weapon. All souls have a 100% success rate of being applied to a weapon, even if that weapon already has a soul equ
  • Everybody in the world of the series has three souls in their bodies, which are linked together. Name Soul - This soul is important when discussing illness. It is said that if you are ill, you shouldn't see your name soul in the water (essentially the reflection), or you will lose it and fall in. This soul tells you who you are and is your personality. The loss of the Name Soul after death results in the creation of a ghost, eternally seeking the clan it has lost.
