Thorass was the name of the alphabet used by the large majority of human languages on Faerûn, including Common. The alphabet was first developed for use with the Thorass language by a scribe whose name has been lost to history and was spurred by interactions between the kingdoms of Jhaamdath and Calimshan. It was influenced by the runes of the Untheric language. Thorass was the script used in Common, Alzhedo, Chessentan, Chondathan, Durpari, Illuskan, Midani (in Anauroch only), Rasallesian, Tuigan, Turmic, and Uluik.
