After a few predictable matches, we were greeted to our second taste of an FF7 character in the contest realm. Aeris may not have proven to be as strong as Cloud, but she was more than strong enough to handle to likes of Kasumi of Dead or Alive fame. In all three seeding upsets seen thus far in this particular contest, all of them involved fighting game characters, and only Morrigan managed a victory in such a situation. • Previous Match • Next Match

  • After a few predictable matches, we were greeted to our second taste of an FF7 character in the contest realm. Another odd thing about this match was the fact that Aeris was an 11 seed in the first place. As everyone is well aware of by now, Aeris is far stronger than her 11 seed would suggest. If anything, the seeding in this match was backwards. Aeris was favored to win by a 2:1 ratio, Kasumi was three times the longshot to win it all than Aeris, and if the seedings were reversed, both the prediction percentage and the vote difference would likely increase in Aeris's favor. Final Fantasy 7 made GameFAQs what it is, and even though Aeris is only the third most popular character from the game, the likelihood of a lesser-known fighting game character taking her down was never in question. If anything, this entire four pack involving Kasumi, Aeris, Gordon Freeman, and Tina Armstrong was Aeris's for the taking from the onset of the contest. This match helped prove this, and all that was left for Aeris after her simple dispatching of Kasumi was to win another match before bowing out to Solid Snake, who had a similarly easy four pack. • Previous Match • Next Match
