| - Foxcatcher (movie), arrived in theaters Dec. 20, in the thick of the Oscar race, is being postponed until 2014, various entertainment websites report. Sony Pictures Classics apparently has moved the release to an unspecified date so director Bennett Miller can finish the film. The shift likely dampens the movie’s Academy Award chances, given the tendency of Oscar voters to favor performances or movies released in the late fall or early winter, but it doesn’t rule out nominations entirely.

The movie, shot in Western Pennsylvania, stars Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo, Sienna Miller, Vanessa Redgrave and Anthony Michael Hall. Miller directs a screenplay by Dan Futterman and E. Max Frye about a real-life chemical fortune heir who went to prison for killing an Olympic gold medalist and wrestler. In January 1996, John du Pont shot and killed David Schultz, a 1984 gold medal winner who came to live and train at the state-of-the-art Foxcatcher National Training Center that du Pont had built on his 800-acre property in Newtown Square, Pa.
