He played junior for the Ottawa Primrose and the Hull-LaSalle College teams in the Ottawa City Junior League from 1931 to 1934. He then played in the Ottawa City Senior League. He first played four games for the Montreal Canadiens in 1934-35. Over the next six years he played either full- or part-time for the Canadiens. He played a total of 156 games for the Canadiens, scoring 23 goals and 50 assists. After playing in 1941-42 for the Washington Lions he played senior hockey, serving in the Canadian military from 1943 to 1945. He won the Allan Cup with the Ottawa Commandos in 1943.
