Typhuss, Scimitar, 181st, and 187th were joined by the elite Avenger Squadron, led by Fox and Leeta Heron with a detachment from the 187th, who were already operating on the world. A convoy of large airships was traveling through a small canyon, and the squadrons had to fight and obtain the artifact. The Imperials had to get it back. While Captain Archer commanded the Imperial Star Destroyer during the battle. The squadrons attacked, and engaged in intense combat. 181st fighters battered the large airships with payloads of bombs from their TIE bombers while 187th ARC 170s gave them cover. Typhuss led a squadron under an airship, sense that was were the bridge was located, and they attacked the bridge. Several earth using soldiers sent four large boulders and cobbles flying at the squad, killing five men. Typhuss pulled out, because one of the cobbles hit his left wing. The squadron moved back in for another assault, only to see that fire using troops joined in the defense, after pulling out, the squads saw a bad sight. Several smaller war balloons and medium sized carriers came from the south, and what Typhuss presumed to be air using pilots, flew out on gliders, which had another air user standing on top the glider, with an air staff. They came at the fighters, while the airships tried to get away, still under heavy fire from bombers. Then, several TIE defenders flew in to aid of the Imperials. Their leader contacted Typhuss on the com. "This is Onyx Squadron leader, we're going in." he said. As they continued their battle, with several airships down, Typhuss got an emergency call from his wife, Leeta Heron. "I'm hit! I'm going down at coordinates-" she was cut off. Typhuss panicked as he flew towards the bottom of the canyon through the waves of fighters and gliders, to look for smoke and debris from Leeta's fighter. He found nothing. Not even a single piece of metal that could have been used in a TIE or another fighter. He was panic stricken. Only one other time had Leeta been thought to be dead, years ago on Ryloth, visiting her family, and an out of control enemy fighter crashed into her family's house. Typhuss then got a transmission from the enemy in the com. It was a young female voice. "If you want to see your friend again, order Imperial forces to retreat, and let us get past you to our base, or else she dies." said the voice. Typhuss didn't know what to do, so he called Fox and told him about the situation. "I know you care about her, but we have to get this thing if we want to win the war." said Fox. When he got the transmission from the enemy a second time, he hotwired the com to show where it was coming from. It was coming from the largest airship. It was twice the size of a standard one, and instead of having a bronze dragon head on the front like the others, it had a golden Phoenix. Then, he flew in. He was joined by the Phoenix Flight, a squad of fighters who just came into the battle. Typhuss opened up the hatch of his fighter. As he flew toward the airship observation tower on top of the ship, he jumped onto it, and his fighter was sent crashing into a war balloon. He climbed inside into a metal corridor. He heard voices, and saw a squad of red armored soldiers run past, and then ran toward the bridge. He saw Leeta strapped to a chair near the door, untied her, and they ran outside of the airship rooms and out onto the catwalks on the bottom of the airship. He pushed an earth user over the edge and ran to the edge. He jumped down with her, and they landed on a fighter. Later, they were at a base with the rest of the men. They had won the battle, destroying the airship armada and the artifact. But the battle on Negui was not over yet.
