I've noticed. The pass month or two, we've received very few RfR requests. It used to be a few every week, now, we don't get as many as we did before. I'm not sure why this is happening... I suppose not many people know about this wiki. Maybe it needs more publicity? I was thinking a while back about asking Wikia to add Admin Tools Wiki to spotlight, ignoring the fact that spotlights needs a certain amount of articles to be added to it (last time I checked) since this is a test wiki, and it's impossible to have articles in this wikia. All wikis need a fair chance at getting added to wikia spotlight, right? What do you guys think? — RyanCross (talk) 09:32, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Maybe in the topic of #wikia IRC channel, if that's possible, maybe, as you suggest, in the Spotlight, maybe we need to "spam" a bit in other wikis we're active in, both here at Wikia and at Wikimedia projects as well. But we are going to have problems with the Spotlight, I'm afraid, due to the reason mentioned. 14:18, 26 June 2009 (UTC) The spotlight will be difficult to get, but there are other ways to encourage users to test on this wiki. We should probably ask Wikia Staff to enable some of the extensions in w:c:help:Category:Extensions enabled on request so that users can test those extensions on this wiki before they decide whether to enable them on other wikis. Also, we could ask if we the extensions in w:c:help:Category:Extensions under development can be enabled here, so that users can test extensions that aren't available on most wikis yet. 14:44, 26 June 2009 (UTC) Extensions might probably be a good idea. However, I'm not convinced that they really will because, as I see the purpose of our wiki, we should primarily give the users the ability to be trained for well-prepared admins on serious projects, e.g. English Wikipedia. I think we should not become a MediaWiki-based social network service with avatars, friends etc. 15:04, 26 June 2009 (UTC) That is the main purpose of this wiki; however, most admins on Wikimedia projects usually prefer to use other test wikis that are more similar to the Wikimedia wikis. I have seen several users who requested administrator rights here, but did most of their testing on another wiki on this list. Since Admin Tools Wiki is on Wikia, most of the people who test here regularly are likely to be regular users of Wikia wikis and will therefore want to test Wikia extensions. Another idea would be to only enable extensions that are "useful" and not just for fun. For example, Protect site and Gadgets (The "Gadgets" extension is installed on Wikimedia wikis). Would users prefer that idea? 15:51, 26 June 2009 (UTC) In my opinion, Gadgets are all right. I haven't heard much of Protect site, but it doesn't sound bad, anyway. Since it helps to prevent vandalism, it seems worth testing. 16:01, 26 June 2009 (UTC) Wikia Staff have enabled avatars and blogs on all Wikia wikis, but it is possible to have them removed by adding this wiki to w:Forum:Blog article feature feedback/opt-out. 16:44, 3 July 2009 (UTC) Well, I think such decisions should be made only after arriving to a consensus. I don't have anything against these extensions now; anyhow, SUL, if you want them to be turned off, you may start a discussion. 17:45, 3 July 2009 (UTC) I made that suggestion because you said that you did not think that avatars were a good idea. If you don't mind having that extension installed on this wiki, then I think that we should keep it as some users might want to test it. 17:56, 3 July 2009 (UTC) I seem to have changed my mind since then; they are all right now. No reason to disable them. Sorry for starting such a mess here. 07:42, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
