Numerous elements of The Carcosa Mythos imply the influence of Arabic such as the names Camilla (possibly Arabic Kamillah), Cassilda (from Muslim-born St. Casilda of Toledo) and Hali. Hastur may be related to Asturias in Spain, the only part not overrun by Islam, and Carcosa may derive from Carcassonne, a city in southern France near to the Muslim frontier.
