The treaty took force three months later, on June 1, 2202, and was set to expire sixty-eight years later, in 2270. However, the circumstances forced the abolishment of the treaty's terms in 2259. The immediate period after the treaty was ratified is sometimes referred to as the Magellan era by some historians.
