- In first-person shooter games, air control is the ability to control one's direction of motion in mid-air. Air control is often somewhat exaggerated in these games, as in reality it is very difficult to alter the direction of one's momentum when not on the ground, and especially while in the middle of a jump. Some more modern first-person shooters have reduced air control for realism, and some allow the player to specify the amount they desire. Nearly all platform games also have air control as standard, although the term was probably not applied to them as they are rarely intended to simulate reality.
