Capture refers to the permanent or temporary transfer of control over a character, creature, unit, structure or item from one character to another. There are numerous ways in which control can be transferred. How the transfer of control over a building is most realistically simulated is a contentious topic. The most realistic take-over of a building would likely be having to first defeat the building's crew through the same kind of combat which takes place when fighting an occupied UC building, and then send in an engineer to re-wire the flushed-out structure to be controllable.

  • Capturing is an ability performed by most units with engineering suites, such as the ACU, sACU and engineers. The ability captures units at the expense of energy, based on the unit's build rate. Units with a higher build time take longer to capture, making the capture of combat units from tech level one onwards time consuming and inefficient.

  • When using the capture skill, it is possible to get a monster before taking any of it's hp. However, it is usually very beneficial to reduce it's hp as much as possible to increase it's chances of success.

  • In Capture, there are two teams, along with their own bases. Each team must try to capture the other team's package, which are located in the other team's headquarters. In Capture, unlike other competitive game modes, vehicles are able to be used, which adds a whole new element to gameplay. Killing an enemy holding your team's package will make the package dropped. At this point, your team can either pick up the package to automatically be returned to base or the enemy team can pick it up again. A package can be destroyed if it is underwater. There are 4 different types of Capture games:
  • Capture (キャプチャー Kyapuchā) is a Caster Magic which revolves around gaining powers by digesting the user's targets.
  • You will find a person, either Terran or Vossk, on the mission page or the space lounge, who asks you to capture a cruiser of the opposing faction. Capturing means destroying the automatic turrets on the outer hull of a cruiser. This mission will strongly affect your standing with the faction whose cruiser you captured.
  • Used by certain monsters, deals damage on targets and pulls them to the caster.
  • CAPTURE is a track in the BIOHAZARD Operation Raccoon City ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK. It is found on Disk 1.
  • Capture was a short-lived wilderness competition, in which teams pursue each other and compete for limited resources, with the final reward being a cash prize of $250,000.
  • Capture (キャプチャー Kyapuchā) is the act of capturing a Z/X with the Card Device.
  • Capture (捕捉) is a recurring gameplay feature that appears in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, to an extent in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and in Fire Emblem Fates. Under certain conditions, characters can capture those from the opposing side, equivalent to rescuing allies. __TOC__
  • To capture something in PvP is to exert control over it. Usually this involves carrying a bundle object to a specific location or holding a location for a certain length of time. Different forms of PvP have different things that must be captured. Forms of capture in Guild Wars include:
  • "I think we're done here." Keeping a claw pointed at the tom's neck, I glance over my shoulder at all the cats who have been watching us fight. "Right?" Every single one of them starts to cheer, and despite our terrible predicament, I have to grin. Undefeated, once again. "Very good, very good." Any and all joyful expressions are banished from the cavern as the shadowy-furred cat, Kaeben, steps forward. "An impressive record you've got there, Aaryi. Care to say a few words? Go on, tell your fans how you do it." In one strike, it's all over, and there's blood covering my paws once more. "I..."
  • In Warhawk, to Capture something means one of 2 things: * For a transportable object (a flag, a Core), to "capture" it is to bring it back to your home base and drop it in the appropriate home base location (i.e.--run through the highlighted area at your home base). In the case of CTF, you cannot "capture" the enemy flag unless your own flag is currently in its home location. If your flag has been taken, you'll have to wait until either the enemy is killed and your flag is returned (return by standing next to your dropped flag for long enough), or until the enemy "captures" your flag at their home base, at which point your flag is respawned back at your home base. * To "capture" a base (as in Zones, etc), you must go to the central flag or node that serves as the capture point for th
  • Capture (also known as "capping") is a Command. It is used by Infantry, Mech and Motorbike Units. It allows them to Capture a Neutral or Enemy Building. Capturing enemy Buildings should be given priority over capturing neutral buildings to also deprive the opponent of funds . Should an infantry unit be destroyed while capturing, that building's HP will return to full. Using a Tag Power allows you to give two commands to all of you units in the same turn. This can be used to capture a property in one turn or join two units together first to allow for a faster capture rate in subsequent turns.
  • Players must first locate the Capture Target, who typically spawns in a room used exclusively for the Capture mission type (though the Capture Target may spawn in a "generic" room that is used regardless of mission type). Once the Capture Target spots the player, the Target will immediately start running away to avoid capture, ultimately making his way to a ship or a safehouse. If the Target reaches that location, players will no longer be able to capture him, failing the mission. In order to actually capture the Target, players must attack him until he falls to the ground, helplessly squirming until the player interacts with the downed target, transferring him to a safe location. Players can head to extraction once the Target is successfully captured.
  • Some boarded ships may be captured. Success chance is determined by two factors. First, the percentage of your ship's shields vs. target's remaining armor (the greater the ratio in your favor, the better your odds of capturing), and second, the size of your crew vs target's crew. The second of these is the larger criterion in the calculation. The Marine Platoon outfit can raise your crew. If successful, you can choose to either : Once a ship becomes an escort (by whichever method), it may no longer be swapped with the player's ship, but it may be sold.
  • Your base (Blue) is quite small when the map begins, so start building up. There are three Izumo teams: Red (Greeks), Yellow (Babylonians), and Brown (Assyrians). There are several gold and stone mines on this map, located close to the enemy towns. Capturing them will make everything easier. If you go north-east from your town, there are only a few towers and wandering units protecting them, so controlling the mines will be easier. But it's also quite far from your town, so it'll be harder to send reinforcements should the brown Izumo try to take them back. The mines to the south-east are almost in the middle of the enemy town, but that won't be a problem for long.

  • One power cell spawns at some spot on the track, indicated by a white dot on the map, and the goal is to capture the cell and bring it back to your team's base, or protect your teammate, if they capture the cell, in their journey back to the base. When a cell is brought to a base, that base's team receives ten points and a new cell spawns. Additionally, one point will be awarded per one kill of an opponent racer. The goal is to finish the race with the most points when the four minutes are up, or to first achieve the required amount of points.
