If you feel rushed every morning, it can set a bad precedent for the remaining day. If you would like to put the brakes on and start breathing more deeply, it is probably a good time to start right now. Consider what you would like to do with extra time saved in the morning. Would you like to sleep in longer? Would you like to read a favourite novel? Or, maybe you would like to just have some peaceful time to yourself before leaving the house. Having some good reasons to motivate you is the first step to feeling more enthused about instituting an easy regimen to find more time.

  • If you feel rushed every morning, it can set a bad precedent for the remaining day. Here are some ideas to gain yourself that special time: * Prepare your clothes the night before. This is very important as there is nothing more stress-inducing that worrying about where your favourite shirt has gone and seeing a crumpled jacket on the floor. * Iron your clothing the night before. Avoid ironing in the morning. * Set out the breakfast things the night before. They will be waiting for you when you get up. * Pack your bag the night before. This will not only make it faster for you in the morning but it also avoids sleeplessness over worrying about packing it with the things you will need. * Put up a key hook. Get into the habit of always returning your keys to this hook on arrival home or after use. Easy to find and no running around the house worrying about where they are. * Wash your hair the night before and dry it before sleep. This will only work if you have a simple hairstyle; consider getting a simple hairstyle. * Always wash the dishes before going to bed. That way you have a clean kitchen upon waking and you don't feel compelled to start cleaning on rising. * Keep your clothing simple. Rather than a rainbow of colours, choose a few colours that mix well and really suit you. Buy five shirts in the same colour to make life very easy on you. You can vary the jackets, suits and other accessories instead. And colour code the wardrobe to make mixing and matching a lot easier. * Take a deep breath and count to 10 rather than rushing around. It will help you to focus. * Give yourself time to get to the bus stop or train station. That way there is no need to run and start the day feeling frazzled.
