The Jedi Intelligence Network was set up in 62/63 ABY by Kyle Katarn, The Smugglers' Alliance, and elements of the Wraiths, in response to the threat from Sith Intelligence. The Network performed numerous missions, most designed to directly foil Sith Intelligence, during the Sith Crusade era. By the year 64 ABY the Jedi Intelligence Network was in a desperate struggle to survive. Both Sith Intelligence and the Galactic Alliance sought its decimation; the latter saying it was a waste of resources and had little affect on the course of the war.

By the year 64 ABY the Jedi Intelligence Network was in a desperate struggle to survive. Both Sith Intelligence and the Galactic Alliance sought its decimation; the latter saying it was a waste of resources and had little affect on the course of the war. And so, publicly the Jedi Intelligence Network disbanded, only to take up form once again under the control of the then-neutral Hutts.
