Born on Mon Calamari, she attended a prestigious military academy on Corulag, where she trained in tactical programs and studied military history. When the growing Separatist crisis began to foreshadow a coming war, Grmek aspired to become a naval commander in the Republic Navy, but her ambitions were cut short when the Military Creation Act used the Clone Army for the majority of offensive forces. Unable to compete with the Clones for a job commanding the Republic's naval vessels, Grmek resigned, living off credit, until Kaffman offered her a position as thee tactician for a gang he was forming to deal with a newly discovered Sith Holocron. After two hours of exchange, Grmek accepted the mission. Ilmar Grmek's weather droid, PK-10, was assigned to the Ferrier-class rescue shuttle belonging to Kaffman, while she piloted one of Radar Spectros's Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptors for most of the 1337 N00B5' early history. Later on, she would generally command from the bridge of the 1337 N00B5 flagship, the PWNAG3. Throughout the history of the 1337 N00B5, Ilmar Grmek was the highest-ranking member, although Kaffman and Radar Spectros would just as often make the decisions.
