- Their rapport with the beasts gives them command over many animals. Some can even control lions. —In-Game Description, Etrian Odyssey III The Wildling (Beast King in Japan) is a supporting class in Etrian Odyssey III. They summon powerful animals to assist them in battle. Wildlings have no actual offensive skills. The best they can do on their own is lower the attack or defense of the enemy. If given free space, however, Wildlings show their true worth. They can only equip Clothing and some Shields, and they can use Spears, so they should be kept in the back row.

Since the founding of Fastheld, the "Green tribe" of the Wildligns has been at war with the Empire, raiding over the massive Aegis that surrounds the city-state and several times making significant incursions and sacking full towns. However, upon the destruction of the holy city of Halo in 625 ATA, these Wildlings abruptly stopped attacking. A race of bigger and stronger Wildlings also exists, though they are likely not closely related to the ones which Fastheld has so much experience with. They are called Dark Wildlings, and are fond of adopting discarded human technology. First encountered in 626 ATA, they have menaced both the Wildlands and Fastheld itself, though remain quite mysterious in origin and desires.
