Lt. Colonel Bill Kilgore was, despite having only a very small role, one of the most famous characters from Francis Ford Coppola's 1979 film Apocalypse Now. He was an American officer who is in command of an air calvalry division who was known for getting a lot of pleasure from fighting in the Vietnam War, and especially because he loved the smell of napalm in the morning.
