Runes run down the blade of this ancient weapon, glowing a faint red colour, and are hot to the touch. The Hellpit Blade was reputed to have been recovered from the Crimson Hell Pit of One Billion Miserable Deaths by a trio of adventurers. While it once held greater power (or so the story goes), making it capable of harming all but the very most powerful of magical creatures, its' abilities were altered and lessened when one of the three who recovered it allowed Livarthian wizards to attempt a ritual to transfer its' magics to her own falchion. The magics twisted, however, and while a portion of the sword's power was transferred, in turn it took power from the falchion back into it.

The sword is currently in the possession of Ewain Ó Ciardha, given to him as a spare sword by Alhandra as a gift in friendship.
