The Young boys sailed with the Ransomes in the Northern River Pirates in 1938 and 1939 in a Fairway yacht, and the family still hs their Jollly Roger flag with large flapping teeth. The eldest three of the four boys sailed a Whippet yacht by themselves. They had met the Ransomes at Pin Mill. Today (1980s) they ran the family firm Young’s Brewery at Wandsworth, still using horse-drawn drays (CFT pp 142-3).
