Caladbolg is a very powerful sword, being stronger than a Steel Blade and adding 8 points to Edward's Luck, while also being much lighter and more accurate. Caladbolg is a national treasure of Daein, along with Tarvos and Lughnasadh. Caladbolg was given to Edward by King Pelleas. Along with its siblings, it is not present in the Japanese version.

- The Caladbolg is Tidus's Celestial Weapon. It is acquired after beating the chocobo trainer in the Calm Lands, down a slope in the northwest section. It requires the Sun Crest and Sun Sigil to power it up to full, and when powered up it gains the abilities Break Damage Limit, Triple Overdrive, Evade & Counter, and Magic Counter. Like all Celestial Weapons it ignores target's Defense stat when calculating damage in addition to dealing more damage the closer Tidus is to his max HP. Caladbolg is a weapon based on the Ulster cycle of the Irish mythology was wielded by the obscure Ulster hero known as "Fergus mac Roich". This weapon has a similar look to Faust except it has a gold v-shaped mark on the back and the handle of the sword appears to be somewhat covered in bandages. This article is a stub. - Caladbolg (hard cleft), also spelled as Caladcholg, is the sword of the former tricked king of Ulster, Fergus mac Róich, and associated with another king of Ulster, Fergus mac Leda, implying a relation between the two legends. This sword was said to make a circle of rainbow-like arcs each time it was swung, along with having the power to slice the tops off hills and slaughter an entire host. Caladbolg is thought to be a source or analogue of King Arthur's sword Excalibur, which in early Welsh is called Caledfwlch.

It is the natural enemy of Cú Chulainn due to him having a geas that makes it his duty to be defeated once by the sword so long as it is wielded by someone who is Ulster-born. It is the prototype of many magic and holy swords of later ages, including Excalibur Galatine, and thought to be the same sword as Caledfwlch from Welsh Mythology, possibly making it the prototype of Excalibur as well
