  • A Tropical Wave emerged off of the coast of West Africa the storm started to develop into a Tropical Low but conditions dwindled and the low weakened back into a tropical wave. The storm continued westwards for a few days before making landfall near the Belize/ Guatemala border. The Storm then emerged into the Eastern Pacific on April 19th. The storm then stalled off the coast around 500 miles south of Manzanillo, Mexico. The storm then began to develop an Enclosed core and closed circulation and the National Hurricane Center upgraded the storm to a High Chance of Development on April 23rd. A TCFA (Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert) was issued on Invest 90-L. The National Hurricane Center said that Invest 90-L had become Tropical Depression One-E early on April 24th. Tropical Depression One-E then intensified to Tropical Storm Amelia later that day. Amelia then started to rapidly deepen. Amelia quickly intensified to a Category 3 Hurricane by 1200 UTC on April 26th. Amelia just touched Category 4 intensity peaking at 130 mph (215 km/h) and attaining a minimum barometric pressure of 940 mbar (hPa) on April 28th. The storm held that intensity for 18 Hours before beginning a weakening trend. Amelia then weakened to a Tropical Storm on April 30th. Amelia then dissipated just before landfall. The remnants affected Mexico but ultimately the effects were minimal and no damage or deaths were reported.
