| - Jerry Draper is a former NASCAR driver from Silvis, IL. He competed in ten Sprint Cup Series events in his career, earning three top-ten finishes. Draper's debut came during the 1953 season, when he competed at Davenport. It was a respectable race for the driver, emerging from the tiny fourteen car field with a twelfth place finish. Draper did not return until the 1958 season, when he ran three more races. Unfortunately, they all turned out to be a struggle for the driver. A variety of mechanical maladies ruined his chances for success, starting off with a last place showing (22nd) at Wilson. It got worse from there, with Draper also showing 40th at Martinsville and 19th at Trenton. Draper made his six final starts in the subsequent season, competing mainly on the Southeast short-tracks during the 1959 season. It was truly a mixed season for Draper. Three DNFs in the six starts again proved quite troubling for his team, only cracking the top-twenty once (a 19th at Greenville) during that stretch. But if Draper was around for the finish, he was in the thick of battle. He scored three top-tens during the year: a 6th at Spartanburg, a 7th at Charlotte, and an 8th place showing at Weaverville in his final career start.
