Albert VI (1418 - 1463) was the Duke of Carinthia and Styria, and Margrave of Carniola from 1424 until 1463. Albert was born on 2 December 1418 in Vienna as the younger surviving son of Archduke Ernest the Iron. When Ernest died in 1424, Albert co-ruled with his elder brother Frederick V in Inner Austria. From 1446 he was made the regent of Further Austria, and he soon became embroiled with disputes with Frederick. From 1458 he was granted the rulership of Upper Austria, and after besieging Frederick in Vienna in 1462 Albert also took over Lower Austria. Albert died on 2 December 1463.
