- The River, owned by the beautiful Lucky_Miles, is a room like no other. The River is a beautiful cesspool of horrible people you will no doubt love. Upon entering the room, you will surely be bombarded by racism, hatred, and exploitation of your every slip up, as courtesty of the colorful group of regulars belonging to our River. Half of these regulars will spend most of their time complaining about how good the River used to be, while the others are all 12 and what is this. The River is obviously the best chatroom on Kongregate, but we have no credit for it.

- The River is a notable body of water in Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas. The river serves as the main means of transportation and connects the neighboring hamlets of Frogtown Hollow and Waterville. Residents of the area use the river to row into the town, and the nautical travelers often ward off the chill with a traditional "keeping warm while you're rowing song" (such as "There Ain't No Hole in the Washtub").
- The River is a small expansion consisting of twelve tiles. It is included in the base game published by Rio Grande Games. These twelve tiles are designed to be played before the other tiles, and start with a spring on a mountain. The players take turns drawing from these tiles and playing followers on them as normal, ensuring that the water on each tile links to the water on the next. The water ends farms in the same way a road does, and followers may not be placed on the water itself. The lake is always played last. Some players have noticed this expansion causes larger farms to appear by the end of the game, one at each end.
