| - __NOWYSIWYG__ I'd like to make some edits on The Legend of Korra page that may seem unflattering to some but are non-speculative and based on strong cites. I rather go ahead and edit the page but I concerned about a potential for irrational edit warring so I think it is best to discuss in the war room before proceeding. True or not, edits on this wiki are based on "consensus". The main concern is in the Production section for The Legend of Korra.
* Although the creators of the show had planned an ending to the show, the success of Avatar: The Last Airbender caused Nickelodeon to ask for more episodes.[1] Unfortunately, it is not exactly true. Mike and Bryan DID want to produce a follow-up series but Nick didn't buy their sales pitch right away. The cite is from Sifu Kisu's old comment on kungfumagazine.com dated October 14 2009.[2]
* sanjuro_ronin: We are finishing up Season 3 already. And mi wife loves the series as much as me and the little ones. One problem, when its over, now what? Any suggestions for another series as cool as Avatar?
* Sifu Kisu: My team has pitched a few new ideas to Nick and Disney but at the height of the recession no one was willing to green light any new projects. I hear things are getting better. Are they? The other (and stronger) cite is from Viacom when the management discussed the Q2 2010 earnings with investors.[3]
* Ratings in Nicktoons were boosted by the additional Avatar programming that aired in June, which was part of the cross-network promotional campaign leading up to Paramount's theatrical release of The Last Airbender. Building on this success, Nickelodeon recently greenlit a new series tentatively titled The Legend of Korra, which will continue the evolution of its animated franchise and is slated to premiere next year.
* We are also pleased with our Nickelodeon tentpole, The Last Airbender. This film has defied critics' expectations and is still in the early stage of expanding overseas where it's performing well thus far. A slight digression from the topic, Viacom did acknowledge making money from the movie in the Q3 2010 earnings call.[4]
* Worldwide theatrical revenues increased 3% to $372 million, driven by the current quarter’s theatrical release of The Last Airbender and Dinner For Schmucks, as well as the international performance of Shrek Forever After. Anywho, I propose editing it such as:
* After Avatar: The Last Airbender ended, the creators had pitched a few ideas for a follow-up series to Nick and Disney, but many studios were not willing to greenlight new projects during the 2007-2008 recession. However, the additional Avatar programming aired in June 2010 to promote The Last Airbender had boosted Nicktoons ratings. Building upon this success, Nickelodeon greenlit a new series with a working title The Legend of Korra. I have a few more unflattering edits but let's start with this one first. Any objections? — Hasdi Bravo • 00:13, December 21, 2013 (UTC)
