Proton Cannon is a Watsonville band comprised of Angel Campos (drums), Mark Guerrero (guitar), and Geno Bragado (vox). The band formed March 21, 2005. When Angel was hit by a car on May 7, 2005, temporary line-up changes had to take place. Mark (who plays drums for Make It Count) took over on drums and Geno's cousin Jeff Domalanta played guitar. Dakota Sottosanto later joined on bass. Proton Cannon is the name of Ironman's super-move in the video game Marvel Super Heroes.

- "Target Acquired, PROTON CANNON!!" —Iron Man "Here's my Sunday best! PROTON CANNON!!" —War Machine Proton Cannon is one of Iron Man's and War Machine's Hyper Combos. Iron Man summons a gigantic repulsor cannon and mounts it on his shoulder. He then proceeds to fire off an enormous beam directly in front of him. War Machine's version is the same, but when he goes "Golden War Machine Mode", he fires a barrage of missiles instead.
- The Proton Cannon is a giant Proton Accelerator built on and connected to a truck in an alternate timeline.
- A proton cannon was a weapon used by several races, including the Daleks. A mixture of potatoes, turnips and molasses were once used by the Tenth Doctor to clog up proton cannons being fired upon him and Martha Jones. Having landed aboard an American schooner in the Caribbean Sea during the Quasi-War, the time travellers had to quickly prepare the mixture to thwart their attackers. The mixture gunked up the cannon's intake valve and immediately caused it to explode. (COMIC: Second Wave)
- A Proton cannon is a Vaul heavy direct energy weapon mainly for anti-armor use. It fires charged proton bolts with comparible stopping power to an anti-tank rocket. The interval between shots is fairly moderate making the weapon excellent against most armored forces. With the use of advanced power cells, a proton cannon can last considerably long in combat as long as it does not overheat.

A Proton cannon can be mounted on defensive walls or vehicles. When linked up to a generator, the weapon can fire nearly continuously. This makes them perfect for protecting bases from mechanized assault. Unfortunately, the cannons will have difficulty against swarming tactics unless modified with special equipment. Such modules turn the cannon into a powerful mortar that can lay waste to armored structures or clusters of enemy targets (Gears of War: Mortar). However, this comes at a cost of increased aiming time. Another modification allows the cannons to fire three smaller proton bolts charged with psionic energy. Once fired, the bolts home in on the closest of enemy targets (Halo - Reach: Plasma Launcher). Effective in destroying or scattering enemy formations, this modification tends to drain energy fast forcing users to take time for the weapon to recharge.
* High damage to armored targets
* Moderate rate of fire
* Can have unlimited ammunition while mounted on stand or vehicle
* Can be modified to fire mortar or multiple bolts
* Rate of fire insufficient against large groups of smaller targets
* Constant fire causes overheating
* Recharge time can be long if using multi-shot module

The mixture gunked up the cannon's intake valve and immediately caused it to explode. (COMIC: Second Wave) A group of Daleks unleashed their proton cannon on 22nd century Earth, resulting in all life becoming intangible (unable to touch solids). The plan was that, unable to eat, humans would soon just waste away from the Earth and the Dalek survivors would rebuild war ships and attack. However, the Tenth Doctor used the Krikoosh to enter the building and reach the proton cannon. Unhurt by the Daleks' rays, the Doctor made some adjustments and turned the weapon against the Daleks. The humans became solid again and the Daleks with their 'protective' shield were now the intangible ones. The Daleks judged this unacceptable outcome and initiate self-destruct. (COMIC: Extermination of the Daleks)
