The Third Mexican-American War, also known as the Second American Civil War, and occasionally known as World War IV, is armed conflict between the United States and Mexico started in 2133, over territorial claims to the American Southwest and Caribbean territories. The war involved an extended siege of Mexico, ending in the nation's thorough defeat. The resurgence of the struggle can be explained by growing anti-American agitations in the Southwest and the Caribbean, and the visible improvement of Mexican wealth and martial power in the forty years since the Second War.

abstract
  • The Third Mexican-American War, also known as the Second American Civil War, and occasionally known as World War IV, is armed conflict between the United States and Mexico started in 2133, over territorial claims to the American Southwest and Caribbean territories. The war involved an extended siege of Mexico, ending in the nation's thorough defeat. The resurgence of the struggle can be explained by growing anti-American agitations in the Southwest and the Caribbean, and the visible improvement of Mexican wealth and martial power in the forty years since the Second War. The war had its origin in the fractious issue of Mexican American autonomy, especially the extension of Mexico's influence into the Southwestern United States and Caribbean. Mexico directly intervened as Union forces neared the Texas and Californian borders, annexing the rebellious "United States of Aztlan".
