The Nazi Party grew out of smaller political groups with nationalist orientation that was formed in the last years of World War I. Eventually, the Nazis were led by the Chancellor of Germany, Adolf Hitler, into World War II which lasted between 1939 to 1945. However, the Nazi Party only lasted for 12 years officially as the defeat of Germany in World War II marked the end of the Nazi Germany era. Major war criminals from the political party were put on trial and Hitler committed suicide inside his bunker when the Red Army attacked.
