| - Galaxian (ギャラクシアン Gyarakushian) is a video game based on the original game released by Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., which serves as the basis for the Galaxian Gashat.
- Galaxian is a 1979 fixed arcade shooting gameby Namco and released by Midway in the US. It presented a simple gameplay. Swarms of aliens attacked the player's ship. The ship could only have one shot on screen at a time and the player would defeat one swarm, only to have it replaced by another more aggressive and challenging in the next screen. A version of the game can be unlocked in Mortal Kombat 3 on the Sega Genesis, that would be available by fighting in 2 player mode 100 times.
- Galaxian is like a updated Space Invaders and now along with the ships moving above side to side, they also fly in trying to take the player out.
- Galaxian is a fixed shooter arcade game that bears a lot of similarities to the Space Invaders series. You've got one ship to use against an encroaching army of space bugs that move back and forth at the top of the screen in perfect formation. Occasionally, one or two of them will swarm out of formation to attack you. Shooting the flagship enemies (the ones at the very top) garnered bonus points, depending on how many escorts it carries and in what order you shoot them. (Saving the flagship for last is always worth a big bonus). Tropes used in Galaxian and all of its spinoffs:
- Galaxian (ギャラクシアン) is an arcade game that was developed by Namco and released in October 1979. It was published by Namco in Japan and imported to North America by Midway that December. A fixed shooter game in which the player controls a spaceship at the bottom of the screen, and shoots enemies descending in various directions, it was designed to compete with Taito Corporation's successful earlier game Space Invaders (which was released in the previous year, and also imported to the US by Midway Games).

(Saving the flagship for last is always worth a big bonus). Galaxian was one of Namco's earliest successes, and it introduced concepts such as multi-colored sprites and explosions (as opposed to the black-and-white in games that came before it) and running background "music". Sure, these may sound mundane to us gamers now, but back in 1979 when this first came out, these were a big deal. The game spawned several spinoffs, the most famous of those being Galaga, which greatly exceeded its predecessor in popularity. Both games are staples on Namco Museum home collections, and have been ported to almost every system imaginable. Tropes used in Galaxian and all of its spinoffs:
* Breather Level: Every four levels or so in Galaga and Gaplus, you'll get to play a "Challenging Stage", where the enemies fly in formation, but don't drop bullets on you.
* Bug War
* The Cameo (that flagship is everywhere)
* One-Hit-Point Wonder
* Palette Swap
* Word Puree Title

The game was highly popular for Namco upon its release, and has been a focus of competitive gaming ever since. It spawned a successful sequel, Galaga, in 1981, and the lesser known Gaplus and Galaga '88 in 1984 and 1987 respectively, as well as many later ports and adaptations. Along with its immediate sequel, it was one of the most popular games during the golden age of arcade video games.
