The VA-13 Sweeper was a ship constructed by the Daedalus Gas Mines Corporation for use in radiocarbon harvesting, which involved dredging an ion-rich atmosphere for radioactive carbon isotopes. The Sweeper was a modified snubfighter. It had a 10-meter long, 1-meter high, finely-toothed trough made of a special metal attached to the nose of the ship. The metal attracted and absorbed the isotopes, which could be rendered into a more usable form. The Sweepers were first used on Genarius for the first successful mining operation there, the city of Friz Harammel.
