Eragon leaves camp to collect firewood, and in the process stumbles across burrow grubs and owl like creatures, later named sundavrblaka. These animals were changed by the magic that poisoned the island of Vroengard. That night, Eragon, Saphira, and Glaedr witness a procession of hooded figures through the city and are puzzled as to who they are and the intent of their actions. Later in the night, Eragon and Saphira are awaken by Glaedr as five Snalglí approach them. Saphira eats four and cooks the last one for Eragon to eat.
