Shelley Zombie: "The paladin does not." Beltarne: "He should be judged by his actions, not forced there due to a curse." GM: An exorcism is the traditional way to get rid of possession, yes. GM: More whispers, by the way. Beltarne: We'll start with the dagger. I'll take extra time, and remove myself from the paladin's aura if he goes back to moping GM: You're not actually sure that you can exorcise the dagger - it isn't possesed. Beltarne: So, call it +2 for lots of time, and that's it? GM: It's just tainted. Beltarne: Sorn? GM: Oh, he's possessed by a demon. ** Ghazeb shudders as he watched Beltarne take the dagger. Beltarne: Heh GM: Who, Davin? Davin isn't the demon, it's in him. Wolfgang: leaving the head off/keeping the tail in? Marik: He's spent decades being tortured by demon knights. GM: The demon doesn't care about Davin's pain. Wolfgang: true Marik: If that's not incentive to develop High Pain Threshold, nothing is. Shelley Zombie: ... I really should be Assisting here Shelley Zombie: Doh Wolfgang: hopting they shared the pain! Beltarne: Well, can I try again? Perhaps with liberal use of holy water? Marik: We should try again with assistants? Shelley Zombie: I forgot. I'm bloody liscenced exorcist. Wolfgang: ... GM: Well, you're a blood slushie. That's distracting. Plus, absent-minded. GM: Good role-playing! Shelley Zombie: Eheh. Shelley Zombie: And a licenced backup! Beltarne: Okay, I get down to serious business. Rest up. Dig in for a full day-long exorcism, assisted by Shelley, and using my holy water up for a bonus as well? Marik: Do we have a day before the ghosts come back? Are they ignoring us now? Waiting to see what happens? Shelley Zombie: Shelley has more holy water to donate. He's going to drown in the stuff if we're not careful. GM: Beltarne can't try again for a week (DF2 p 9) Shelley Zombie: Can I try? Marik: Shelley can try, Beltarne can assist? Shelley Zombie: With him backing me up? Beltarne: Can I assist Sheelley? Shelley Zombie: And the holy water and the sprinkling. GM: Yes, certainly! Beltarne just can't lead. Shelley Zombie: And nagging the damn paladin into helping. Marik: And is unskilled assistance possible? Marik can hold a candle. Beltarne: Ant the mehoigen Shelley Zombie: mehoigen? Wolfgang: I can hold stuff! GM: How much holy water are we dropping in? Beltarne: He better really like heaven GM: 3 bottles is a +3 bonus. Beltarne: What bonii do I get on my assistance roll? Just straight skill? Shelley Zombie: + Holy Might Shelley Zombie: I'm pretty sure. GM: It's just a straight skill roll, gives Shelley +1 on success, +2 on critical. GM: No Holy Might bonus if you're assisting. GM: No, skilled support only. Shelley Zombie: I really feel like he needs a Final Rest. Shelley Zombie: Next step I suppose GM: Well, Exorcism first. Shelley Zombie: So +3, holy water, +1, Beltarne. Beltarne: Yeah, I was planning on final rest for both him and you Shelley Zombie: Would moving him the hell out of the necromantic zone help? Shelley Zombie: I bet it would. GM: No - you need to do it next to Sir Ewan for it to work at all. Marik: I think we probably need - that. Shelley Zombie: ... but we can give Sir Ewan more reach by bringing one of his tethers. Shelley Zombie: You mentioned that the last time we were in town. GM: Sir Ewan can go to his tethers, he doesn't have to. GM: And the undead are never helpful - unless you compel them through necromancy. GM: ... what have you got up your sleeve? Shelley Zombie: Or use Spirit Empathy to overcome their indomitability and try to use a social skill on them. I was thinking Leadership. Shelley Zombie: Failing that, Fast Talk? GM: Well, that would totally work. Wolfgang: ((ghost control, GO!)) GM: Fast-Talk is a bit of a stretch. ** Beltarne has wrapped the dagger in several layers of one of his sacks, avoiding touching it as much as possible. ** Shelley Zombie: Leadership is good. Beltarne: Naturalist for Clyde food! Marik: Beltarne is busy exorcising. Beltarne: Well, yeah Beltarne: I just remembered that GM: a -2 penalty would "more likely to encounter people in the distance or see tracks" Marik: I'm just not sure if this is 'woods' or not. Marik: That's the deciding factor, really. GM: Not woods. Marik: Right, -2 then instead of -5. Marik: And second roll, at -2 for second try and -2 for cautious foraging. GM: Sure. GM: So +5 if you don't take extra time. Shelley Zombie: Well, I'm up for it. How's Beltarne? Marik: Shelley doesn't sleep, Beltarne is hale and hearty. Marik: I'm good with the 30 hours, personally. Marik: Marik, Wolfgang, and Ghazeb can guard the exorcists. Beltarne: I'm a burly individual. Shelley Zombie: "I should eat before I do this." Wolfgang: ok, if it's that long I nail him to the ground so I can do something else GM: I see we're back to torturing Davin. The demons will be pleased. Marik: "...Eat... what, precisely?" ** Wolfgang notes we have a theoretically unlimited supply of blood tied up ** Shelley Zombie: "This is a good question. But if I don't, I'm ... going to have a problem with concentration. Marik: ((I thought *I* was the Callous one. Oy.)) ** Shelley Zombie has a look at the goober. ** Wolfgang: ((creative extention of intolerance)) GM: See, this is a reasonably interesting ethical-moral-etiquette dilemna. ** Beltarne blanches, then stiffens his upper lip, rolls back a sleeve. ** Shelley Zombie: "DO not eat the condemned man?" Beltarne: "Try not to take too much, lass." Shelley Zombie: er, that was OOC to the GM Shelley Zombie: not IC spoken. Shelley Zombie: "You'll have to remove your... amulet." Wolfgang: ((this guy is fustrating my bloodthirstyness)) ** Marik shakes his head. "Beltarne, you need your strength for the ceremony." ** Wolfgang: "You can't take from the dammed?" ** Marik mutters, grumbles, rolls up a sleeve. Scrubs at his arm a bit, decides the grime isn't going anywhere, extends the arm to Shelley. ** Shelley Zombie: "Inviting the demon into my body would probably be bad." Shelley Zombie: "Your noble blood betrays you, Marik." Shelley Zombie: (No secret holy symbols in your pocketses, right?" Marik: "Can we focus less on my noble blood and more on getting this over with, please?" Wolfgang: ((lol)) Marik: (Yeah, no.) ** Beltarne watches dejectedly as Shelley feeds. ** GM: So what's going on? Shelley Zombie: So yeah, feeding off of Marik. Marik: Marik's donating blood. Shelley Zombie: Then doing the 30 hour ritual of doom. Marik: I suspect this costs direct FP drain. Shelley Zombie: HP drain' Marik: Even better. Marik: Just how much HP drain? GM: ... so just to review. Shelley Zombie: I'm not sure, I'd have to ask the GM. GM: You guys defeated the ghosts at about 1 pm on the 9th day. Tried and failed an exorcism around 4 pm on the same. Then spent 30 hours, taking you until 10 pm on the 10th day, doing a big powerful exorcism? Marik: Looks about right. GM: Uhm, 6 HP drain for the blood. Shelley Zombie: Having left the ghosty haunted area. GM: Right. GM: How far out did you go? ** Marik manages to not fall over after his blood is drained, then goes out foraging just to prove how tough he is. ** Shelley Zombie: Other than "Beyond the rock throwing area, and beyond the Necrotaint", I'm not sure. Anyone have any oppinions? Beltarne: Sounds good to me. ** Marik finds a good, hideable campsite. ** Marik: This is probably a pretty trivial Survival task. ** Wolfgang defers to the experts ** Marik: If 'hidden' can't be accomplished, 'defensible' will do. GM: Okay. GM: The night passes uneventfully except for Beltarne and Shelley's endless chanting. GM: The clouds clear at midnight. Around 11 am, the winds slow down to a light breeze. GM: Shelley and Beltarne continue chanting. GM: Around 2 pm... Marik: After people are awake and on watch, Marik will take the opportunity to forage again, because we really are low on food. GM: well, basically a tree walks out of the faerie woods, moves past your camp at a range of a few hundred yards, and heads down toward the lake shore. It tears up the ground behind it in a wide trail, and its many arms dig deep divots into the earth on either side of its path. Wolfgang: I can kill stuff, can I help? GM: The tree has a huge, vaguely manlike head, which turns from side to side as it walks. Marik: "...I'm not messing with a walking tree." Wolfgang: ... Shelley Zombie: BUSY SO VERY BUSY Wolfgang: ((I was talking about hunting for food, not freaky tree things)) Beltarne: ((It's the goddamned spider-hydra!!!)) Marik: "Unfortunately, you're likely to scare off the game. You smell like an ironworks." GM: The walking tree stops at the lake shore for a while, then walks back into the forest. ** Marik waits for it to pass before making the third Survival attempt. ** GM: A few hours later, purple-yellow-black light signs out of the sky, and an opening in the air that is both very close and far away opens...
