Sounds On Sunday was a half-hour BBC Radio One programme broadcast on Sunday nights from 7 p.m.. It ran from 1972-10-01 to 1975-11-30 and was scrapped around the time the station’s schedule was revamped due to budget cutbacks. At the start of 1975, Sounds On Sunday was replaced for a time by "Quiz Kid 75"[1] but returned in late March with guest musician presenters (introduced by DJs) until the last month of the year.

After an initial focus on “contemporary folk” artists, under original producer Frances Line, the show shifted to emphasise music familiar to listeners of the contemporary Sounds Of The Seventies, with the presenters and producers of many of the later episodes drawn from the group who also worked regularly on SOTS. The standard format appears to have included studio interviews with featured artists between session tracks. At the start of 1975, Sounds On Sunday was replaced for a time by "Quiz Kid 75"[1] but returned in late March with guest musician presenters (introduced by DJs) until the last month of the year.
