Several specific divisions of baseball and softball are available for children and teenagers aged 5 to 18 years. The first Little League Baseball World Series pre-Doomsday was played in Williamsport in 1947, and post-Doomsday in Acapulco in 1990. The existence of Little League baseball and softball can be credited to Mexican nationals and American expatriates in Mexico who wanted to keep the organization alive. The first leagues post-DD were existing local leagues in Mexico City. The organization was reorganized as a Mexican non-profit organization in 1985, and resumed competition in 1987. The first national championships were held in Acapulco in 1990, and the first non-Mexican leagues were chartered to Puerto Rico and Australia in 1992. The Little League global divisions break down thusly: * Mexica/Mexico City * western Mexico * central Mexico * southern Mexico * Caribbean * North America * Oceania * Venezuela Cuba holds youth baseball-type competitions as well. Japan is believed to do the same; it has so far expressed no interest in sending teams outside its borders to any resumption of the Little League World Series, wherever it is held.
