The Victorian (Australia) Information Privacy Act 2000 (IPA) gives Victorians privacy rights. The law requires Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries, the State public sector, Victoria Police and local councils to protect the privacy of citizens' personal information. The IPA came into full effect on September 1, 2002.
