Its capital is London, and other major cities include Birmingham, Liverpool, Plymouth, Manchester and York. The country has a turbulent history since its humiliating defeat in the Imperial War, but since the mid-1960's has experienced peace, partially thanks to support from the United States of America. The country's primary language is English, and the dominant religion is the Anglican Church, although Roman Catholicism and Judaism have always been strong, and recently Islam and Hindu are growing faiths in the public sphere
