| - Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Gujarati: મોહનદાસ કરમચંદ ગાંધી, was born in October 2, 1869, and lived up to January 30, 1948. He was a major political and spiritual leader of India and the Indian independence movement.
- Mohandas Gandhi is an Indian leader who has appeared in every game in the mainstream Civilization series. He is also featured in the Civilization Games Wiki stub message logo. Gandhi has often been used in preference to other great Indian rulers such as Ashoka, Chandragupta, or even Akbar the Great. Gandhi is also portrayed inaccurately given his preference for using nuclear weapons. (This originated as a result of an integer underflow error in the original Civilization that caused Gandhi to become extremely aggressive if he adopted a peaceful form of government such as Democracy, which became available around the same time as nukes.)
- Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (2 October 1869 - 30 January 1948) was a major political and spiritual leader of India and the Indian independence movement. He was the pioneer of Satyagraha — the resistance to tyranny through mass civil disobedience, firmly founded upon ahimsa or total non-violence — which led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. Gandhi was assassinated in 1948 by a Hindu extremist who blamed Gandhi for "weakening" India after the partitioning of Pakistan.
- The Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble met Gandhi in Calcutta in 1947. He was soon assassinated — shot in the heart — on 30 January 1948. His last words were "Hey Rama" — "Oh God". (PROSE: Ghosts of India) According the Twelfth Doctor, Clara Oswald once had an argument with Gandhi. (TV: Under the Lake) His likeness was included in a display at Madame Tussauds of famous historical figures. (TV: Spearhead from Space) An image of Gandhi was projected by the Atraxi during their meeting with the Eleventh Doctor. (TV: The Eleventh Hour)
- Behind his back his fans - mostly hippies or wannabees referred to by the media as the 'SatyaGroupies" - called Gandhi "Mahatma", meaning "Great Soul". He never liked the title much, never enjoyed it, and asked his fans to stop calling him that. He knew exactly what he was: just a guy, a lawyer as well, trying some new ways to change things and looking rad while doing that.
