The National Economic Interests Act of 2007 (Coded:1-2; also called the National Interests Act) is a Southwest Republic legislative piece introduced by Ted Cruz (C-TX) on June 22, 2007. The Act places international operations and subsidaries of a Southwest-based company or corporation under the juridisction of the federal government of the Southwest Republic, thus protecting them from being nationalized by a foreign government or being handed over to a different company or corporation without approval from the government of the Southwest Republic. The Act passed the Senate with a wide majority of 72 - 18 on June 25 and signed into effect by President Ahiga Johnson on June 26.
