The Oni bargained and demanded from the shugenja that he sacrifice one victim a day to feed the creature in return. Several weeks later Tsuburu himself was eaten by the oni, having run out of assistants, horses and captive goblins to offer. Tsuburu no Oni, now free, escaped into the Shadowlands.
