The Sims 3 was the first PC base game in the series not to include Daniel as a pre-made character, justified by the fact that its story takes the form of a prequel set around fifty years before The Sims 2 and twenty-five years before The Sims, which would either set the initial action recently before Daniel's birth, or before his family moved to Pleasantview. However, several of the worlds later made available from The Sims 3 Store seem to take place outside of the game's main continuity, and Daniel and his wife Mary-Sue are featured as young adults on an extended honeymoon in Sunlit Tides. Since their daughters have not yet been conceived, it can be estimated that this version of Daniel is intended to be around fifteen years younger than the one found in The Sims 2.
