| - While watching TV at Thorndyke Mansion, a shocking news report catches Sonic's attention. Station Square is currently being attack by Sonic himself. Confused, Sonic races downtown to investigate, and discovers that not one, but five different Sonics are causing mayhem everywhere, their only difference being their variety of colors. Sonic initially tries to outfight the copies, but it proves to be too much. Then Sonic decides to lure them away by speeding out of the city. The clones follow Sonic all the way to Dr. Eggman's base, where the mad doctor is awakened from his nap by a red alert. Still groggy, Eggman panics when he sees all the Sonics rushing towards him and orders all his machines to destroy them, then goes back to his nap. As the real Sonic recovers, he spots a leftover shoe from one of the clones. A quick glance reveals that the creator of the clones is the S.O.N.I.C.X. Organization (first introduced in issue #23). Racing to their base, Sonic corners the team scientist, Dr. Kai Narasu and asks for an explanation. Apparently, S.O.N.I.C.X. wanted to ruin Sonic's good name with the clones, but complications in the cloning procedure led to the different colored Sonics. In desperation, Narasu releases his last clone, this one blue like Sonic but shorter and chubbier. The two Sonics immediately fight each other, completely trashing the lab in the process. As the other S.O.N.I.C.X. members arrive, they spot Sonic's silhouette in the dust and open fire on it... only to find out that they destroyed the clone while the real Sonic escaped. Back at the mansion, Sonic relaxes with his friends, glad that there's only one Sonic to go around for everybody.
