After the miners accidentially desecrated a burial cite of Xivhkalrainik's father, his son, Sith Lord Xalek began attacking their mining camps, slaughtering everyone and leaving no survivors. Shaft 16 was one of his targets, where everyone present there at the time of the attack prerished.
