As a promotion for the Cröonchy Stars cereal sold by Post Foods in 1988, fans of the Swedish Chef could send away for the doll with a few box tops and a check or money order. This doll differs from a similar doll made by German toy manufacturer Igel in 1999, in that the Cröonchy Stars doll is holding a wooden spoon. This was the first plush or doll representation of the Swedish Chef manufactured.
