On Qward, Sinestro met the Weaponers, and told them of the Yellow impurity, how the Green Lantern Rings could not affect anything colored yellow. Having been working on a weapon similar to the power rings for several millennia, the Weaponers developed a Power Ring, designed to project yellow energy and and take advantage of the Green Lanterns weakness. Unlike a Green Lantern's power ring, yellow power rings are fueled by fear instead of willpower, but otherwise function the same.
