- Muramasa (ムラマサ Muramasa?) is a sword used by ShadowMan that can be obtained from him as a Battle Chip. It slashes one square ahead. The damage it causes increases as the user's HP lowers. ShadowMan himself is also capable of using this attack while low on health, which can be lethal as it could do upwards of 1000 damage in one hit. Although it cannot be obtained in Mega Man Battle Network 5, Muramasa appears alongside ShadowMan in the Team Colonel version.

- Muramasa was a nasty dog appearing only in the Shin Gaiden story. It's unknown where he came from but he took over Hidaka Reiji's pack by using Shin's Mother as hostage while he was away fighting Akakabuto. He ruled in cruel and harsh way, giving his minions only little food. His minions apparently killed Hidaka Reiji's two sons Tommy and Sabu when they tried to leave to get help. Gin comes with Ōu dogs to the area and after hearing what happened, they help the local dogs to get rid of Muramasa. Muramasa orders Shin to kill Gin but Shin eventually finds new courage and attack Muramasa instead.
- Its in-game description reads "Famous sword crafted by great swordsmith Muramasa." As an ultimate sword, its starting stats are very high, so it can kill most enemies in only few hits. But this sword lacks of balanced stats: it has only 3 high stats, and all others are at 0, which means some enemies will take longer to defeat than others. But this lack of balanced stats is compensated with speed. The Muramasa has, like the Ama no Murakumo, a fast 5-hit combo, so even if you only deal "minor" damage to enemies, the high speed of this sword should give you enough time to entirely deplete their health gauge without any injuries.
- Following the damage Izayoi suffered at the hands of Dr. Kimaira, Rikimaru was forced to go to the swordsmith Ressai to have the weapon repaired. Ressai advised Rikimaru that he could repair the blade, but to do so he would need steel that was located within a cemetery that was guarded by the undead; this graveyard was bordered by Ressai's property. Rikimaru readily agreed to retrieve the required materials, and as he was about to leave Ressai stopped him for a moment and handed him a sheathed sword. Rikimaru was startled when he realized that Ressai was letting him borrow the Muramasa. Ressai explained that the Muramasa had guarded his family for generations, as it was the only weapon that could kill the undead in the cemetery. He also told Rikimaru that wielding the weapon was dangerous,
