  • Rare is a British company who used to work for Nintendo and their Donkey Kong series games, until Microsoft bought them out. They have made a major improvement to the Donkey Kong series as they added Diddy Kong and many other well known characters. They gain the rights to the Banjo-Kazooie and Conker series which Nintendo had used to gain the rights of until Rare moved to Microsoft. Rare no longer had the rights to Donkey Kong after moving. When they moved, the project of Donkey Kong Racing was cancelled, and Diddy Kong Pilot was changed to Banjo-Pilot while Donkey Kong Coconut Crackers was changed to It's Mr. Pants.
  • Rare is the fifth highest rarity in the Duel Masters trading card game.

  • Rare, or Rareware, is a United Kingdom company founded by Tim and Chris Stamper. It is known for the development of Donkey Kong Country, Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Goldeneye, and most importantly, Battletoads. The company has developed many video games for the Arcade and the Nintendo consoles. It is currently developing titles for the XBOX and XBOX 360.
  • Rare is located in Twycross, Leicestershire, UK. It has developed many games for Nintendo's gaming consoles, including Battletoads, Donkey Kong Country (and its sequels), Killer Instinct, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Blast Corps, GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong 64, Jet Force Gemini, Star Fox Adventures, Diddy Kong Racing DS, and most recently, Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise. One of Rare's most critically acclaimed and popular series was the Donkey Kong Country series on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, due to its use of pre-framed 3D graphics on a largely 2D console. Rare then released several critically acclaimed platform games for the Nintendo 64, such as Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, Banjo-Tooie and Conker's Bad Fur Day.
  • Rare cards are the second rarest variety of card in the game and are denoted by a gold edition seal. They are acquired by purchasing new boosters or via trading. Exactly one Rare or Ultra-Rare is found in every booster, and rares are found in five out of every six boosters. Rare cards are generally rather situational. Some interesting combos can be pulled off with Rares, but in general Uncommon cards are more versatile.
  • Rare (Image:Wizards of the Coast Rarity Symbol - Rare.png) is the second highest rarity. There is generally one rare in each booster pack (although it can be a Very Rare instead). In 60 piece sets, rares generally held 14-16 places in a normal set, and 16 in a Huge set. In 40 piece sets, rares generally hold 8 places.
  • Rare is given out as a blue print which costs "bounty" to create. This item is salvaged for about a quarter of its creation price. Their drop rate is significantly lower than Uncommon. This item gives out higher level prefixes and suffixes and allows 3 rune inserts.
  • Rare refers to items or adventures that are encountered less frequently than standard events. Rare events occur 1/50 as often as normal events.
  • A Rarity class denoted by two stars, with text and border in Blue.
  • Rare items are a type of item featured in The Last Stand: Dead Zone. They are rarer and typically more effective than Superior and Elite items, but less so than Unique items.
  • rare is a term used for enemies. When Enemies are rare they are very difficult to find. Often there may be less then 5 at any time. Enemies that are rare tend to be very strong and are in very dangerous spots.
  • Rare is the level of item quality in between Uncommon and Epic or the highest battle pet quality which is above Uncommon. It is also the middle quality for a garrison follower above Uncommon, but below Epic.

  • Recorded by Geoff Downes and John Payne exclusively, Rare is a collection of mostly instrumental pieces composed and recorded for a nature documentary and a scrapped video game project. As such, this is unlike any other Asia release, as it's classical and even techno compositions lean far more towards the progressive realm than even such Asia masterpieces as Arena and Silent Nation. A must-have cd, and a vitally important entry in the Asia catalog, showing the range of talent that the two men possess outside of the pop-prog-rock of the main Asia recordings to be as vast as any musicians in the modern classical field. Brilliant stuff, indeed.
  • Rare cards have a gold background in their title. They are the second hardest cards to get ahold of, after Cr's.

In sets Flaming Eternity and later, Rare cards and cards of higher rarities can be found as Ultimate Rares. As of Duelist Revolution, Rares are now printed with a bronze-like card name instead of the previous silver, along with the universal change that the name plate is closer to the top part of the card, and the overall card does not contain the minute blots from the card printing press.

  • Rare (1982-2002) (sometimes referred to as Rareware) is a British video game developer. The organization was founded in 1982 by brothers Tim and Chris Stamper as a company called Ashby Computers and Graphics Ltd. and published games under the name Ultimate Play the Game. Although their early work was popular, software piracy was a serious problem in those days and a threat to their company's livelihood. They renamed their company Rare and began focusing on cartridge games, which were much harder to make illegal copies. The Stamper brothers had attempted a contract with Nintendo in 1984, but were refused for multiple reasons. One reason was that in-house products such as Donkey Kong were doing well and Nintendo saw no need for expansion. The main reason was that it was not too far from the
  • The company is notable for having created an unusually large number of original hit games, and for the company's price tag: Microsoft paid US$377 million for the company, a record for a video game developer. On January 2, 2007, it was announced that Tim and Chris Stamper have left Rare to pursue "other opportunities". Neither Microsoft, Rare, nor the Stamper brothers have stated specifically what they intend to move onto post-Rare.

  • Rare is a British company that used to make Donkey Kong shames. They also made a lot of other shaming series, most notably the Banjo and Kazooie shames, and not to mention, Conker games. Now they are owned by the Microsoft people, since NintenDON'T was too lazy to renew their contract. Now they are replaced by another company named Namcan't, just to make more DK shames. Nintendo is currently in a war against Microsoft, fighting for ownership of Rare.

  • Rare, formerly known as Rareware, is a Twycross-based (though they started in Ashby-de-la-Zouch) video game development company founded by Chris and Tim Stamper in 1982. They're famous for their pioneering of sophisticated technology to make video games, the sheer amount of crap they get past the radar, the idiosyncratic little mysteries they weave into their games that leave gamers pondering for decades, and their media-shy nature.
