Almost every ship in its multiple fleets has some form of weapon or defense system to protect itself from harm, and with thousands of vessels at its beck and call, and more than a hundred star systems under its protective wing, it can be said that Torec is a nation in its own right at times.

| - Going by the motto, "Bringing the Best the Galaxy has to Offer!" Torec does exactly what it states. It is a massive company based on planet Toleer, a frigid and sunless world which is located roughly 13,000 light-years "south-southeast" of Earth in a starless void between two galactic spiral arms. Working so far from civilized space has made Torec an almost entirely self-sufficient entity, with both the ability to manufacture its own ships and equipment as well as grow food and produce commodities for its large number of employees. Torec maintains little contact with the world outside their sectors of space, other than exporting vast amounts of raw materials and refined goods. Almost every ship in its multiple fleets has some form of weapon or defense system to protect itself from harm, and with thousands of vessels at its beck and call, and more than a hundred star systems under its protective wing, it can be said that Torec is a nation in its own right at times. Torec employees often do not have the best working conditions, with some examples being outright unlivable. Dangerous work and only somewhat above-average pay is balanced by excellent benefits such as complete medical care, cheap comodities, and provided living space. In addition, employees have the ability to requisition things for personal use from the company, anything from games to play to weapons to own to ships to hotrod around in. Because Torec Resources does not perform background checks (or if they do, they don't seem to have high standards in the slightest), it can be seen as a haven for those who have nothing else to go to. Criminals often join the ranks of Torec, and pirates looking to lay low can sometimes be found among the ranks of the security teams Torec employs, guarding the very mining vessels they may once have preyed upon. Torec as a company is managed by a board of directors, much like any large corporation, however the CEO of Torec is strangely absent. The Board takes very ill of any foul play among its ranks, even with the large number of criminals among their employees, and while they do not pay much attention to what a Torec employee may do to a non-worker, conflict among eachother is dealt with swiftly and permanently.
