The Cardassian Articles of Jurisprudence was the written code of Cardassian law. This code included articles governing the treatment and rights of prisoners in the Cardassian system of jurisprudence. Under the articles, an officer would caution the individual being arrested that, "You have the right to refuse to answer questions, but such refusal may be construed as a sign of guilt." The document also allowed the arrest of a suspect without informing him of the crime he was accused of.
