Ernesto Vita is a businessman who was notable in F1 circles as the founder and team owner of Life Racing Engines, who competed very unsuccessfully in 1990. Vita founded Life (his surname in English) and bought the rights to Franco Rocchi's W12 engine design. Vita attempted to find an F1 customer for the 1989, but was unsuccessful, and he decided to enter the engine himself. Buying and upgrading the chassis from the aborted FIRST project, Life entered the 1990, but failed immensely. Vita sold a majority stake and shut the team down with two races of the season remaining.
