This expansion deals with the player breaking out of a Jedi prison and going on the run from Jedi Watchman with Naresha. The two then travel together to find a few other escaped prisoners who used to be Jedi Masters. The story starts at Coruscant then moves to either Mandalore or Rodia. Afterwards, the player goes to the final world; Dashaad. It is here the player confronts the corrupted Jedi who are responsible for sending the Watchman and arresting the player along with the other Jedi. As with the original campaign, there are three endings depending if the player character is: light, neutral, or dark.

  • Civil war has nearly completely destroyed the Sith Empire. But due to the efforts of a powerful reincarnated Sith Lord, the war came to an end. However, despite having killed Darth Exitium, the Sith Lord was forced into self-exile, leaving all allies behind and disappearing into the unknown. Meanwhile, in Republic space, corruption has sprung across the Republic and the Jedi Order, infecting both of them heavily and forcing the Jedi Order to isolated themselves from the rest of the known galaxy. Within the Core Worlds region, a breakout is planned and staged by a captive Jedi Knight, with the help of a droid ally, from a prison ship hovering over the orbit of the Republic capital Coruscant...

As with the original campaign, there are three endings depending if the player character is: light, neutral, or dark. While the first Fall of the Empire story was mostly separated from the first two Knights of the Old Republic games in terms of narrative, this expansion brings back a direct storyline connection to them, as it shows the overall state of the galaxy following the events of The Sith Lords. Supporting characters from Knights of the Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republic II return, and also the player's actions from those games, plus the original Fall of the Empire campaign - will affect certain elements of the expansion's storyline. The expansion is based off the cancelled Knights of the Old Republic III game and includes all known content from the game, and using them to form a new storyline that picks up where the original Fall of the Empire story left off.
