A ganconer is a fae satyrine nymph that disguises itself as bristly or willow branches but transforms into a dashing young man to seduce women. Much like a demon he can't enter a home unless invited. It is given away by the cinders it coughs. His sighs sound like the murmur of a stream in addition to more otherworldly sensations cast upon his victim. If it is tricked into leaving the house or crossing a threshold into a holy place the spell it has cast on a woman will be broken. It yells loudly at the breaking of the spell and the woman is left with a persistent sadness that never truly fails to return.

Some ganconer go mad and, fading into the fog, take the form of knights in armor and finding, stealing, or transfiguring a pale horse, it rides around, seeming to maidens a chivalrous knight. But when they get close, he has a sunken, dead face, flies (or floating dirt) coming from his mouth. He grabs up his victim(s) throws them over his horse, takes them to the river, strips off their clothing, and cuts of their head.
